This is not a posting by IARA but by the very active member, Paul Aikkila, who lives in Holmes Road, next to where the proposed location of the Recycling Centre. It obvioulsy relates to an issue which is impornt to much of the area. WhatsApp postings get buried very quickly so we are putting it here to keep it available. D&D

Local residents and CFBL leadership involved in the Recycling Centre discussions met with Council on 3 September. Key take-aways are summarised below. Importantly, the developer is launching a new phase of consultation (and marketing of their scheme) today. Attached is their consultation leaflet, noting that there are two events at St Patrick’s school (tonight and on Saturday).
This consultation is important as it is the only consultation before planning applications are submitted next month.
The developer’s consultation will also be online later tonight at https://camdenfilmquarter.commonplace.is/. The consultation questionnaire includes specific questions related to the waste facility. It is therefore important that you express, if you share them, the concerns around the proposed siting of the waste facility on the Met Police site.
*COUNCIL, RESIDENTS AND CFBL MEETING OF 3 SEPTEMBER*
1) Ward Councillors were not consulted by their own Council Officers on the proposed siting of the waste facility. They were alerted by residents who discovered the siting information buried in an amended planning document.
2) Council and Yoo Capital have not explored other locations for the waste facility on the Regis Rd estate, including leaving it where it is now.
3) Yoo Capital do not want the waste facility near their private developments. They want to move it to the police station site of Holmes Rd and build council flats on top of it. It is concerning that Council has given credit to “commercial” challenges of the developer about re-providing for the facility at or around its current location (I quote: “_it’d be had to attract funding if that’s where the recycling centre was proposed”_).
4) Council has not addressed the concerns raised by the local community in the joint letter dated 27 June and appears to have no plans to do so. Council says that representations made in the June consultation are to be dismissed and of no effect on the Draft Local Plan because _“the statutory process”_ is to _“not make any changes”_ to the document. This “statutory process” appears to defeat the purpose of running this June consultation in the first place.
5) No research has been completed or commissioned with respect to the utilisation of the existing Regis Rd Recycling Centre, or the projected use of a new waste facility.
