Dear Members
Report from the Safer Neighbourhood Panel
Attache John’s report from the last meeting includes the below:. You will see that he raised the issue of antisocial behaviour within the Inkerman Area, which recently became more serious when 3 houses had bricks thrown through their windows.
Anti-Social Behaviour in Inkerman Area
This was discussed in some detail. PC Archibald Moore and PCSO Aleksandra Ilkowska have visited residents in Willes Road who have recently had their windows broken. Some doorbell cam footage has been provided but it is not enough to identify the culprits.
Those who are signed up to Met Engage alerts will be aware that the police have put out an appeal for anyone with possible CCTV, doorbell cameras, dashcams or other recording devices for the period between 20.45 and 21.15 on 7 and 8 April that may show suspicious behaviour or groups loitering in or around Willes Road.
Earlier incidents of ASB in Inkerman Area generally involving kicking of front doors was investigated by PC Moore Following identification of the children involved, the police have spoken with the youths (some very young) and their parents, and depending on their level of honesty when questioned, they were given different levels of warnings, proportionate to their ages.
Since then, the police have put out requests for any information and PC Moore had earlier sent us this:
“We have received reports of the youths kicking on doors and have taken action. I’m just sending an email to update you all regarding the situation.
All the children and their parents have been identified and spoken to regarding the situation. Some have been issued formal written warnings, others verbal.
Regardless it was made clear that this behaviour is not to continue and any escalation will be met with a proportionate police response.
We’d like to take the opportunity to thank our residents for reporting this behaviour and providing us with the evidence used to identify the suspects. Collaboration is vital, to combatting ASB.”
Please continue to let us know of any trouble (including door kicking) and report it to our local safer neighbourhood officer, archibald.moore@met.police.uk and community safety officer natasha.dickinson@camden.gov.uk.
Not the Alma Street Fair
As most of you know, there will not be an Alma Street Fair this year. However, plans are shaping up for an Inkerman Summer Party on Sunday 21 June. This will be on the stretch between Grafton and Willes, and there will be music, food and drink (but no stalls). More information when it’s all confirmed.
Several of us have been thinking for a while that individual streets might like to have their own, smaller event (not involving street closures). A chance to meet neighbours, share food and drink, maybe organise some music …
Maybe different streets on different summer weekends? If anyone is interested in organising something for their street, please let us know when you might want to do that and we can try to co-ordinate dates.
The works at the junction of Anglers Lane and Prince of Wales Road. For update see:
