Dear Members,
Many of you will have already heard the devastating news about the death of Anne Hearn, a much loved and a very long term resident of Ryland Road.
Even if you did not know her personally, you have probably noticed her in the area. She was very slim, quietly elegant, beautifully and individually dressed – usually in modestly stylish vintage clothing – walking at speed around the area despite her advancing years and the huge pain that she endured so bravely for many years.
For those of you who have not yet heard, Anne was reported missing after she failed to return home last Thursday. The police were informed and they, together with many local people, instituted an extensive search, covering some of Anne’s favourite places, including scouring Hampstead Heath.
Yesterday, her son-in-law Jon sent this:
“It’s with huge sadness we have to tell you that Anne’s body has been found by the Police. Lucy and I want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all your help and support. It’s a testament to what a wonderful person Anne was that so many people that there has been such an overwhelming sense of love and support from the community.
We’d respectfully ask that we need time as a family, and we’ll be in touch when we are ready.
I know it’s a huge ask, but if you see any posters up anywhere, please could you take them down.”
There has been an outpouring of sorrow on the IARA WhatsApp group – a sorrow we personally share at the loss of our friend.
