Independent Elders in lockdown

The Elders have continued to meet via Zoom throughout 2020 and into 2021. We haven’t posted notes of meetings because much of the discussion has been swapping information about what everyone has been up to, and how people have been coping with lockdown. There have generally been 10 or 12 of us and we’ve enjoyed wide ranging discussion, including:

  • tips about good books, films, online exhibitions and plays
  • exercise, walking and gardens
  • local history
  • volunteering (some elders have been helping at the vaccine hubs)
  • planning matters, including the Segro and Murphy proposals
  • recommendations for workpeople
  • intergenerational stuff – ideas for setting up storytime sessions for children on zoom

We hope it won’t be long before we can meet up again face-to-face, and as summer comes on perhaps start to think about some outings.
